With the temperature hot and the nights in Lake Geneva area filled with the alluring smell of campfires, it is no wonder that we start August out with a venue unlike anything else in the area. Camp Wandawega, based just outside of Lake Geneva in the Elkhorn area, is a a nostalgic camper’s dream. Like something out of a Wes Anderson movie, it is a visual treat of flawlessly curated pieces set in a camp backdrop.
Your guests can sleep in a teepee or check out the treehouse. From a bunkhouse to log cabin, every lodging has been carefully designed. You can get married under tall, gorgeous trees with aisles of benches like those used to sing camp songs from your youth. Resist the urge to challenge your bridesmaids to swings on the rope swings (unless that is just how adventurous you ladies are!).
Their Manifesto of Low Expectations explains how quiet and detached this beautiful little piece of nostalgia really is. When the guide reads the words “prohibition” and “brothel” along with “raccoon squatters” it instantly diverges those you are excited at the history and rustic nature to those who are not.
If you want to rustic, childhood-like adventure for your wedding as well as your guests, you could not choose a better location than Camp Wandawega. All photos are from their website or those that have shot at this venue.
